Active in 2026 โ€” but real estate no longer qualifies (removed October 2023). The main route today is a EUR 500,000 investment in an eligible Portuguese fund. Grants residency with a path to citizenship (residency period under review; may extend from 5 to 10 years).

  • Admission letter (student), remote income proof (Digital Nomad), or a qualifying fund investment (Golden Visa).
  • Meet language/academic requirements (student).
  • Earn at least EUR 3,680/month from remote work outside Portugal โ€” 4x the national minimum wage (Digital Nomad Visa, 2026 figure).
  • Invest EUR 500,000 in an eligible Portuguese investment fund โ€” real estate no longer qualifies (Golden Visa).
  • Pass due-diligence and source-of-funds checks (Golden Visa/Digital Nomad).
